Comedy writing masterclass with stand-up comedian and novelist Eamonn Marra.

Eamonn Marra is a writer and comedian. He was born and raised in Christchurch and now lives in Wellington. He has a MA in Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters. Eamonn’s shows include Man on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (2014), Respite (2014/2015), I, Will Jones (2016–18), Dignity (2018) and ‘Anxiety: The Comedy’ (2019)His first novel, 2000ft Above Worry Level, was published in February this year. 

In the workshop, Eamonn will cover: 

  • How to use structure and form to construct a story 
  • What to do with your half baked ideas
  • How to use narration and voice to your advantage 
  • How to punch up your writing with jokes 
  • Flirting with truth and lies
