Following a sold-out debut at the New Zealand Festival of the Arts earlier this year, vocal artist and producer Estère brings her newest show to Nelson Arts Festival.
Known for her unique style of electric blue witch-hop, mesmerising voice and one–of–a–kind performances that have seen her tour Europe, Africa, South Korea, Australasia and open for the likes of Grace Jones and Erykah Badu – Estère offers audiences the chance to experience a uniquely dynamic and curated live music show.
‘Into the Belly of Capricorn’ is an inspired concept work that braids together theatre, set-design, lighting and costume, to create a contemporary live-music show. Its story spans across the universe of the unconscious, taking into account the collective archetypes that appear to us as human beings within myth, dream, religion and emotion. Through the lens of the journey’s protagonist (Estère), audiences are invited to explore themes shaped by songs from her soon–to–be released third album (co-produced by Stew Jackson; Massive Attack).
Created in collaboration with the internationally renowned director Sara Brodie, lighting designer Jo Kilgour, and featuring the innovative audio-visual work of Kaysha Bowler.
